Just two of many positive comments by Ofsted Inspectors concerning our Springfield Playgroup.

Established in 1968, it is promoted as a "Church based playgroup" so parents expect and see a strong Christian emphasis on all that is done. It is run by enthusiastic church members.

It is no mean feat to run a playgroup today, The children are encouraged to participate in a whole range of fun-filled learning activities, all of which need planning and organisation when 26 three to four year olds are present! There are dressing up clothes to encourage imaginative play, books to look at and have read, water & sand play areas, climbing apparatus, drawing, colouring & painting activities, a circle time for nursery rhymes & songs and cooking is also done eg. croissants, pizza and biscuits - to name but some of the many activities!!

But the work doesn't stop when the children go home. Each of these activities is expected to meet strict Ofsted requirements and the paperwork has to be there to prove it. This is the responsibility of the playgroup leader and can take up much of her spare time.
